The Shiv Niwas Palace is a magnificent palace located on the shores of the picturesque Lake Pichola in Udaipur. A crescent shaped building, it sits comfortably on a hill at the southern end of the City Palace Complex. This entire complex was a conglomerate built by twenty-three successive Maharanas. Shiv Niwas Palace built by Maharana Fateh Singh during the early twentieth century and was to be his private residence. Later turned into the guesthouse for the visiting dignitaries and in its final avatar, it was converted into a luxury hotel where travellers from India and abroad could come and relive the past.
